Amidst the growing concern for families’ inability to feed due to astronomical cost of food items, a gentleman, Prophet Peter Daniel Udo has taken the onerous responsibility of giving out free breakfast items to the indigent members of the society.
Last weekend, the prophet took Urua Ekpa axis, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, by storm, hosting multitude of needy people for a breakfast service, where he ministers the word, prayer and doled out various food items to the women, youths and the elderly
As the teeming crowd surged in from every axis in the closely linked communities, Ambassador Peter Daniel Udo who expressed deep compassion over their plights, owing to the current economic difficulties in the nation, however, explained that he was hosting the food and word programme, not just for the sake of preaching the gospel but sharing the practical love of God with them in the area to cushion the impact of adversity many homes are experiencing.
In an atmosphere reminiscent of what Jesus did in John 6: 5, when the compassionate Lord, after preaching to the multitude, requested his disciples to feed the multitude, as many of them were hungry and too weak to return home without nourishment for strength. The current humanitarian gestures of the clergyman, tagged, “Showing The Love of God To The People,” brought reliefs to many, as the crowd burst into excitement when a truck load of bread, noodles and other food items pulled over at the venue to deliver the goods. Filled with a pleasant surprise for the good gestures of Ambassador Peter Daniel Udo towards them, the women exploded in spontaneous praise, invoking countless of blessings on the man of God.
It will be recalled that Prophet Ambassador Peter Daniel Udo, founder of A Touch of God’s Great Glory International Ministry (ATOGGIM), Uyo, has been involved in providing foods to households, free fuel to commercial drivers and medical services to the underprivileged members of the society. According to him, this humanitarian service to the poor is a continuous exercise. Answering our reporter’s enquiries on his reason behind such largesse, he said: “I learnt about a particular scripture at a tender age where Jesus said to his disciples, “I was hungry and you never fed me, I was naked and you never clothed me, he was in prison and nobody visited him. They asked him, ‘When did we see you in this circumstance and we didn’t attend to you?’ He told as long as you’ve not done it to the fellow brothers that you have seen, you have never done it to me.”
Another thing that got me so much passionate about giving relief to the poor is a song by American artistes – Kurt Sapaugh and Bobby Austin. The chorus says, “You’ve got to try a little kindness, just shine your light for everyone to see…” So when I learned these things early, I vowed that as a preacher I must back up my preaching with that attitude of love and kindness that I see in the ministry of Jesus.”
According to him, being kind to people has been his lifestyle. Feeding the hungry is a task he does with less enthusiasm, lately he took the compassionate programme to the hungry residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as hundreds swarmed him to receive parts of the humanitarian largesse of the clergyman.
His love for the administration of Pastor Umo Eno has also led him to form a non- profit group, Eyakeno Support Organization for Umo Eno, where himself and his team mobilize volunteers across the 31 LGAs of the State for monthly chain prayer programme in support of the success of the ARISE Agenda.
